The Le Blanc area is known essentially for its goats cheese AOC (a sort of quality control label) Pouligny Saint Pierre.
This cheese, if it has the shape of a pyramid, can be recognized by its white or slightly blue rind.
You can imagine many recipes which use this cheese. You can try it cold, for example, with salad or cooked in the oven.
But you mustn't forget fish which is very popular in the Brenne because of the fishing in rivers or in ponds.
The carp is the "Brennous" (the name given to the people who live in the Brenne) favourite fish : it can be presented in "pâtés" or "rillettes" as a starter or as small fry for the greediest.
The eel, the pike and the zander are also part of the traditional dishes of Le Blanc and its surroundings.
To finish a "Blancois" meal, what is better than a piece of "clafoutis aux cerises" (black cherries baked in batter) as a dessert !
