The Brenne parc naturel régional in the centre of France is a naturalists paradise.

Well known for having many lakes and rare aquatic animals and plants ; it also has many other interesting habitats and corresponding species.

In a calm, quite, friendly countryside a naturalist can take their. time and discover a multitude of species, both common and rare, many of southern European distribution.

        Bellebouche 

Bellebouche : Renowned  for its beach, this lake is the most important one in the area. There are a lot of activities, sports and entertainment. You can discover fauna and flora thanks to three observatories.

    

   ChAzay  

Château of Azay Le Ferron
 : a XV th century château where you can take a walk trought French gardens and you can visit the interior where there are wonderful pieces of furniture.

  
 

   Cherine   

Cherine‘s reserve : This reserve is very important for fauna and flora. It is worth a visit if you want to know how Nature works...

       


  ChGuillaume  

Château Guillaume : owes its name to Guillaume Xth who was duke of the Aquitain. This XIth  century castle has had a lot of restoration. It’s a private property but the owner are happy to welcome visitors during the summer.

       


Fontgombault
The Abbaye of Fontgombault is one of the most important religious places in the Brenne because of its church. Some monks still live there and because of that, you can join in important masses with Gregorian songs.

 
    

  HauteTouche 

The “Haute Touche Reserve” : is an important reserve where you can see different kinds of wild animal. You start the visit by car as a safari and you finish on foot or by bike, as you prefer.

     

  MaisonParc 

The "Maison du Parc” is a place where you have to go if you want to taste some regional specialities or if you just want to see a diaporama about the lakes and nature in the area. Maybe, you have a look to the exhibition but don’t forget to stop a moment at the shop to get some souvenirs.

     

  Montfreid 

The "Henry de Monfreid" Museum : This museum explains the life of Henry de Monfreid. This great adventurer lived for 27 years in the village of Ingrandes where he wrote all his memories of his trips.

    

 

The archeological Museum of Martizay presents collections resulting from some fortuitous discoveries and excavations in the municipality. There are two main themes : the Prehistoric and Gallo-Roman and Merovingian periods.
